A mechanical splice for FTTH drop cable, used for through, branch and transition splices indoors and outdoors, pigtail splicing and emergency restoration. A high-precision V-groove self-centres the fibres, so no fusion splicer, adhesive or epoxy is needed.
Features
- High-precision V-groove core aligns the fibres accurately
- Index-matching gel rated for 30 years
- Typical insertion loss under 0.3 dB; average blind (non-tuned) splice loss 0.15 dB to 0.3 dB
- Clamping holds the cable at 50 N
- Reusable more than 10 times, improving splice yield
- One size fits 3.1 × 2.0 mm drop cable
- Compact and portable; needs minimal training and few accessories
Installation
Strip and cleave the fibres, push them into the splice until they meet, then turn the cams to lock them in place. No special tools or polishing are needed; an optional assembly fixture is recommended and a self-contained tool kit is available.
Typical uses
Fibre networks and FTTx builds; splice trays; repairing damaged fibre cable; splicing cable on poles, at ground level and underground.
