A self-supporting figure-8 aerial fibre cable with steel tape armour, for backbone and access runs. Gel-filled loose tubes are stranded around a central strength member, with jelly or water-blocking material in the core, then wrapped in corrugated steel tape. The armoured core and a galvanised steel messenger share one black polyethylene jacket.
Construction
- 2 to 288 fibres
- Gel-filled loose tubes
- Corrugated steel tape armour
- Messenger: steel wire or steel strand
- Black UV- and water-resistant polyethylene (PE) jacket
Features
- Good mechanical and temperature performance
- High-strength, hydrolysis-resistant loose tube
- Special tube filling compound protects the fibres
- Compact structure stops the loose tubes shrinking back
- PE sheath protects against UV
- Good crush resistance for aerial installation
Typical uses
Aerial installation on backbone and access networks.
