A self-supporting figure-8 aerial fibre cable for backbone and access runs. The fibres sit in gel-filled loose tubes stranded around a central strength member, with jelly or water-blocking material in the core to stop water getting in and travelling along the cable. The cable core and a galvanised steel messenger share one polyethylene outer jacket.
Construction
- 2 to 288 fibres, 250 µm coloured
- Gel-filled loose tubes
- Central strength member: FRP (fibreglass-reinforced plastic) or steel wire
- Messenger: steel wire or steel strand
- Black UV- and water-resistant polyethylene (PE) outer jacket
Features
- Good UV and flame resistance
- Figure-8 flat profile, self-supporting
- Compact, soft and flexible; easy to install
- Works with low-cost attachment hardware
Typical uses
Aerial installation on backbone and access networks.
